Contact lenses advice?

Hello

I'm currently looking at getting started with contact lenses after about ten years of having to wear glasses. I have astigmatism, so I gather that I'll need toric lenses?

I was wondering wear I'd be best looking for these kind of lenses. My usual/local optician charges £90 just for the initial consultation!

I'm hoping for something around the £15 a month mark - Specsavers' packages look good, with added extras and things.

Does anybody have any experience/advice?

Yes, I have used specsavers, around £15 a month, for many years (also have astigmatism) - I have had no problems for years although starting to get a few now ........ but I am mid 50s and understand that this is not unexpected .

I would recommend them. Also you get a free pair of glasses included in the package.

I have an astigmatism too and wear the all day all night specsavers lenses. They really are great. £15/month and once in a while £5 for a starter pack of solution and eye drops. They do free trials too. They will be best placed to advise yu on what will suit your own eyes.

I have astigmatism and use Biofinity torics.
Book a contact lens trial with an optician, specsavers cost me £20 for a check up so shouldn't be much more for a trial then ask for your prescription and buy your lenses online.

I pay roughly £30 for 3 pairs which last me 3 months, and even allowing for solutions and one check up a year it still saves a lot of money against joining an opticians scheme.

Ive been using Specsavers for at least a decade, no problems ever. VV shortsighted with an astigmatism and I have monthly disposables.

You need to be careful about online lenses I saw something on TV about companies supplying substandard ones and damaging peoples sight.

My lenses come direct from Biofinity so definitely aren't substandard but as in all things online it's best to cautious.

If they don't ask for your prescription then they probably aren't legit as it's a requirement for supplying contact lenses.

Another one for specsavers. I found that they actually worked out slightly cheaper than the online suppliers. Very competitive prices. And they've been really good when I've had problems - sore eyes, something stuck in my eye etc

I have Specsavers too.I pay £13/month which includes all aftercare (regular eyetests, freat if tgere's a problem ever) and solutions. I hv a v high prescription too. Also they offer free basic glasses or money off more expensive ones.
