Can anyone tell me what VDAL stands for on a blood request form?

Is it handwritten? Asking as know what VDRL is not sure about VDAL

alwaysswimming · 19/04/2013 19:27

It is handwritten but definitely VDAL. VDRL wouldn't fit as it is a neurology problem.

Just tried to find it on google, but shows only VDRL - no DVAL?

EnlightenedOwl · 19/04/2013 20:08

same here tried checking medical abbs, types blood test, nothing just vdrl

EnlightenedOwl · 19/04/2013 20:16

VDRL really would make sense especially if you say it is in relation to a neurological problem. VDRL would fit for a neurological investigation.

Sorry to keep asking questions but on looking at the link enlightened gave and then searching neurosyphilis. why would they do a blood test for this when they have already done a spinal tap which was normal and an MRI scan that shows something on the spinal cord that they're not sure what it is.

You need to have a chat with your consultant. You can wander randomly round the internet for hours without firming up any answers.
Have a chat with your doctors.
