eating and sickness bug

I've got a nasty bug which is manifesting itself as agonising stomach cramps every few minutes, with added pain if i sip water or anything. I also have all the normal sickness bug symptoms. It's been over 24 hours now and no sign of stopping and on top of everything else I'm starving but the thought of food is sickening and i suspect i won't keep anything down and eating will be painful.
So should i hold out a bit longer or should i try to force something down? And when i do decide to eat, what will be gentle on my tummy?
Thanks everyone!

BRAT is the normal recommendation. If there is a risk of dehydration, I always found half fat Coke, half water went down easier and I felt better (because of the sugar and caffeine!).
