Awww sh*t! I think it's chickenpox - so we have to cancel our holiday tomorrow right?

Dd in the bath tonight had around 7 raised red bumps on her torso (back and abdomen) which she said were itchy. I've looked in her just now (she's asleep) and she is running a fever.

I suspect it is chickenpox since she has been exposed at Pre -School (they have had at least 2 cases).

However she has had chickenpox really mildly before (about 18 months ago) - had only about 15 spots in total at that time. Is is true you can get it again if you only had it mildly on the previous occasion?

I have to cancel my holiday tomorrow I suppose due to risk to immuno compromised people and pregnant women...

I had to cancel my holiday last year becuse of chicken poxs. I hope you don;t have to to.

Insurance covers it I think - but it's still a bit gutting isn't it...

I'm afraid my dd1 had it at a young age. Pretty mild but it was definate.
She's just had it again at 5. Really bad this time so i'd think she's immune now but yes, they can get it again.

Poor you and ddSad

gingernut · 10/05/2006 21:46

Yes you can get it more than once. What a shame for you, it does sound like CP. Hope she's not too ill with it.

handlemecarefully · 10/05/2006 21:47

Oh bu**er Angeliz, I thought as much. Going to try and get an urgent appt at the doctors tomorrow for confirmation of diagnosis. I need to leave home by 14.00 to go on holiday - so if I get a morning appt and it isn't cp I can still go, but rather suspect it is cp.

Glad your dd is now better

Any news or clarification if it's chicken pox?

Hope t's not and that you're on your wayGrin

handlemecarefully · 11/05/2006 15:47

Yes it is chickenpox. Right now we should be at the airport. I need an emoticon with tears streaming down the face! (the Sad doesn't quite do it)

poor you - what a shame. So you get a full refund right and book again? Where were you headed?

:( for you. What timing! Will you be able to re-book the holiday?

I knew they could get it twice if they got it mild the first time but thought the second time they got it, it would be mild again.

Angeliz - Shock that your DD got it really bad 2nd time! That obviously blows that theory out of the window!

KBear · 11/05/2006 16:15

of course, you must be so disappointed. How is the little dear now? Remind her how she spoiled your holiday for many years to come..!
