Wisdom teeth, 2 coming out on Thurs...

Finally HAVE to have them out - upper and lower on the left-hand side. Going for local anaesthetic and sedation as pretty nervous (not of the pain so much, as the panicky feeling of lying there for ages with loads of "stuff" in my mouth).

Anyone like to share positive stories please (or offer some hand holding - thank goodness dh has got the day off to be my escort, or think I might chicken out....) Also, any experiences of how quickly the sedation will wear off and what they will not want me doing straight after? Thanks :)

Make sure you have someone with you to drive you home. My sister had similar and said the sedation was great - she wasn't at all bothered about the extractions because of that. I'm due to have all my top teeth extracted. Joy.

spotty why all of them?

ETsmum You can't work/drive/sign legal documents and the like for 24 hours after sedation. After an extraction you need to put your feet up for a day to prevent increasing your heart rate/BP, no smoking or drinking, no rinsing your mouth out for 24 hours. If they are happy to do a local anaesthetic extraction then IME (as a dentist and patient) things won't be too bad. I had an impacted one surgically removed on the morning of part of my final exams under local and the surgeon was also taking photos for a text book. Start to finish about 25min.

Thanks Spotty and MrsMorton, very reassuring :)

DH will be with me to get me safely home, as expecting to be a bit gaga. Think if I don't feel too bad, the "putting my feet" up is going to be hard for me - like being busy :) Oh well, will make sure I save some good telly for Thurs aft/Friday :)

Thanks Mrs, one of mine is impacted, so pleased to hear you managed an exam after. And Spotty, ouch, all your top teeth out sounds pretty major, good luck.
