Ok, have had a small grape-sized cyst on my scalp for the past 15 odd years. Not painful, sometimes uncomfortable and remained roughly same size. It is at the top back of my head on the left hand side.
Last week, however, following conjunctivitis/ eye infection in my left eye I noticed that the cyst was painful. It also felt as if there was fluid around the lump and it is marginally bigger.
A week on and it is a consistent throbbing pain that feels as if someone has tried to push something into my head. If I turn over to my left side in my sleep I wake up because of the pain. It also feels hot, and as if there is a lot of pressure in it and it is incredibly painful to touch. It sounds like it's infected doesn't it
?
I have a doctor's appointment for next Wednesday as that was the earliest i could get but I'm wondering whether I should go to the walk in clinic today and ask for anti-biotics?
If I could easily see it I would be tempted to attempt some self-surgery (have read too many sporners threads on here for my own good
but decided not to sound the klaxon here) but I daren't (and am too much of a coward really) and probably would make it worse wouldn't I? I have had a bit of a poke and gentle squeeze but that made me cry with the pain.
Am I going to be wasting the walk-ins valuable time if I go today and will they tell me off for wasting their time and should I just wait it out until next Wednesday?
