Oh help me - itchy bum! (TMI)

Have name-changed due to TMI-ness. Blush

Right, on Sunday night, I had some serious itchiness going on around my back passage and my first thought was 'oh crap! Threadworms!'

But I've checked (believe me, mirrors, torches, all sorts) and there's nowt to be seen. The itchiness has carried on but it's not only at night time. I don't know what else could be going on!

Please help, wise Mumsnetters! Thanks

Have you taken any antibiotics recently?

BellaVita · 20/03/2013 18:06

Piles?

FrauleinItschyarsch · 20/03/2013 18:07

No, I haven't. The only medication I take (or rather, that I have in me, I suppose) is the contraceptive injection.

Eek, I've had a good and piles/haemorrhoids sound plausible. Do you have any advice as to what could I do to relieve the itching?

Had a good? Had a Google, rather. Confused

Well I've had piles over the past week - in addition to really persistent thrush Hmm so am being driven to distraction by the itchiness. You can buy haemmorhoid cream in pharmacies and most supermarkets to relieve the itchiness somewhat (only helpful for external piles, not internal ones). Make sure you are staying well hydrated and have lots of fibre in your diet too. You have my sympathy.

idiot55 · 20/03/2013 18:20

id def say threadworms, you cant always see anything!! they poop back up quite quickly.

get yourself a dose of the threadworm stuff nad see if it works

( threadworm experts here!)

goodjambadjar · 20/03/2013 18:26

Also TMU:

I get itchy towards the end of AF because the glue on the pads irritates my skin.
I would also try pile cream. it is very good at relieving the itching. Hope you feel better. Thanks

goodjambadjar · 20/03/2013 18:26

TMI! sausage fingers. sorry. x

weighingitallup · 20/03/2013 18:28

Are you looking for the threadworms of a night? maybe get yourself wormed!

FrauleinItschyarsch · 20/03/2013 18:29

Oh dear, looks like I'll be doing a trip to Boots in the morning then.

Please no worms, I was so sure that there were none! Sad

TSSDNCOP · 20/03/2013 18:32

Double whammy: buy the worm stuff (plus do all your towels and sheets) plus whack on some piles stuff.

Your arse won't know itself from your elbow, but at least you'll be distracted from thinking about itching!

FrauleinItschyarsch · 20/03/2013 18:33

I had a search last night Weighing, and had a panic because I thought I saw something, but it was a little bit of tissue. Hmm

I will have another look tonight and get myself down to Boots in the morning to be on the safe side.

Whorulestheroost · 20/03/2013 18:34

I would say worms too - I'm afraid I've had them a few times and they don't just come at night and you can't always see them. Get some Ovex just in case - you've got nothing to lose. Plus wash all bedding on boiling hot!!!

FrauleinItschyarsch · 20/03/2013 18:40

Sad Thank you for your help, everyone!

FrauleinItschyarsch · 21/03/2013 11:21

Right, dosed up on Boots' own-brand stuff and I've washed everything. Shock

How long should the tablet take to zap the little blighters?

OP posts:
Whorulestheroost · 21/03/2013 12:43

I'm not sure on that but I think it's when you poo them out Shock its the vilest most putrid thought isn't it??!!!

FrauleinItschyarsch · 21/03/2013 13:22

Oh Roost, I'd just sat down with my lunch as well. Envy Grin

Passiveaggressivecakeeater · 21/03/2013 13:27

You need to take a second course I think it's 2 weeks later to kill the eggs too, otherwise you'll end up with more wormies.

Passiveaggressivecakeeater · 21/03/2013 13:27

Oh and next time you go anal worm fishing, use a cotton bud.

FrauleinItschyarsch · 21/03/2013 13:30

Thanks, Passive. See, I've used a cotton bud too (ick, TMI, sorry everone!) and never found a thing. Hmm

Still, better safe than sorry. Smile
