Itchy throat

It's the skin on my throat iyswim, from just under my chin to the top of my chest.

It's been driving me mad day and night for about 3 months, but there's absolutely nothing to see, no rash or redness at all.

Any ideas what it could be?Is it worth going to the doc's or is he going to think I'm imagining it and/or it's trivial?

Anyone?

Go to the doctor if you haven't. Just to start a history if nothing else. I went once for this. They told me to use antihistimine cream. Nothing. Went again 2.5 weeks later. Now they've made appointment for me with allergist. Thing is, I also have, for about 3 weeks now, an achy pain in my throat where the thyroid is. Throat feels "crowded" especially lying down. Like most medical issues it will probably take time to determine. They're always looking for the horse and not the zebra.
