Nausea - not pregnant - what can it be?

OK, I am definitely not pregnant, so don't even go there Grin

Every morning I feel really sick: I've never been terribly keen on food in the mornings, but at the moment I often can't face making my sandwiches for lunch or watching the kids eat breakfast. I often gag and retch when I'm cleaning my teeth.

What can it be? Any ideas? Other than this I don't feel ill in any way, and am fairly happy, content, unstressed, etc.

Could it be a blood-sugar related thing?

I tend to feel a bit sick if I'm really hungry -for example if I don't eat for a while after getting up.

Do you ever feel sick if you get hungry at other times of the day?

Thanks Betty. I never feel sick at other times. If I'm hungry I just feel hungry iyswim.

I would guess it might be blood-sugar related too, roisin. Have you tried eating toast or something to see if it has any effect on the nausea. My sugar levels can swing around a bit if I go for long periods without eating. Sometimes I have no 'hunger' feelings but can feel dreadful in other ways. Hope this helps Smile

Could it be hormonal? I often feel like this in the second half of my cycle. I found the pill made me feel like this too. Late at night was another time I felt unbearably nauseated.

I also get this in the second half of my cycle.

Other things that can cause nausea in the morning are stress or an acidic tummy. Are you eating a bit late in the evening perhaps? You can get omeprazole (called Zanprol) over the counter now - it's something that decreases the acid produced by your stomach. If it is persistent nausea you should probably get it checked out.

Thanks - will try some of these suggestions
