ectopic heart beats anyone?

I have suffered from ectopic heart beats on and off since I was a teen. I could go years without getting them but the last few months they are becoming a bit annoying. I know they are nothing sinister and I did have an ecg done (about 20 yrs ago lol) for another matter and it was fine so I am grand . It used to just be the odd skipped beat but now I am getting runs of them lasting a minute or two and repeated for hours, and twice I had an episode where my heart seemed to 'stop' for a few seconds and I actually got lightheaded until it kicked in again. Then I might not get any for days or even weeks? I know they mean nothing serious, I am not worried in that way at all, I am just wondering why they have ramped up in the past while. I am not on any meds or under any particular stress, indeed I have often been far more stressed and didnt get them? I have them at the moment and they have been on and off all day, its annoying grr. Anyone else get these?

am not familiar with ectopic heartbeat specifically, but i was born with a small heart defect which causes a condition called svt, just fast heartbeat really. when it kicks in, top speed is 200bpm. worse when i'm stressed, often feels like it's fluttering when it kicks in for just a few seconds.

i know the feeling of when it seems to stop and then start again, that's what mines does when it seems to switch to/from a bad/good rhythm.

might be worth asking about another ecg just to check on what's going on.

As someone who a) has suffered with ectopic heartbeats before and b} works in a GP surgery, the symptoms you are describing do not actually sound like "ectopics" - I would describe the is palpitations and think it is definitely worth you going back to your GP who can organise a 24 hour ECG - just in case it is something more serious. Definitely don't ignore an irregular heartbeat. Hope all goes well
