How long does it take to get a medical appointment?

Hi just wanted some advice about how long I should be waiting for medical appointments, I've not had many appointments before so don't know what's normal.

I've had lower abdominal pain since Nov, I went to see my gp who referred me to a consultant and booked me in for an ultra sound.
I had an appointment with the consultant mid December which was a waste of time as I had not had a scan. I had my scan late January a week later I booked an appointment to see my gp to get the results. Since then I've not heard anything, I thought my appointment with the consultant would have come through by now.

I'm starting to feel a bit anxious, it feels like its been going on forever. I just want to know what's wrong with me :(

Phone the hospital and ask what has happened to your appointment, - there may have been a clerical mix up - it happens a lot IME, always worth phoning.

End of january until now - probably not too unusual to wait this long for a follow up appointment, but I think you should have been given the appointment date by now.
If you are not keen on ringing and badgering, ask your GP to chase it up for you.

Good luck Smile
