My ear hurts whenever I swallow

Should I be worried? It's a bit strange, it hurts, a sharp pain, but only when I swallow. When I don't, I don't feel anything. Also if I turn my head to one side I get a pain from my scalp down to my ear (on the inside) and my neck but I assume this is because I slept in a very strange position last night. Ds was ill and i was perched on the edge of his bed for most of the night. Could it be linked to my ear hurting and I should just wait it out or should I be more worried about it?

I should think that was it. But to rule out mumps feel if you have a lump behind that ear lobe at top of side of neck. And does it hurt when you open your mouth as wide as you can as if yawning.?

No and no. I take it that's a good sign. Thanks!

Hi snowy I've had that too, thought I was coming down with earache, just a bloody awful virus that seems to be striking everyone, my ears still twinge when I yawn/swallow.
Now it's a sore tum with awful twinges, and sharp tightenings.
(absolutely not contractions)
