Problems with copper coil...

Had a copper coil put in for the first time a few months ago. Was all ok to begin with, but now that I have stopped breastfeeding and my periods are starting to return I am struggling - constant, really sore bloating, menstrual cycle all over the place, lots of spots, and a constant exhausted feeling as if I am trying to walk through treacle. I'm not sure how much of this is due to the coil, and how much is just things getting back to normal, the general exhaustion of having three small children etc etc.

Should I stick it out to see if it settles, or call it a day? Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

I've had mine nearly 2.5 years, since my youngest was about 10 weeks old, and it has just got better. I have a lot of the symptoms you describe but that's just my cycle, not the coil. It has got easier as time has passed and in the last 6 months my cycle has become properly regular. The pains are way worse than without the coil but very brief and manageable. My periods are also very heavy but only for a day or two, again very manageable. A lot can change anyway with pregnancy and birth so i guess it's hard to know what to attribute to the coil. For me it is good but I have had to stick it out for a bit before it has settled down.

Thanks poachedeggs, good to know that there might be light at the end of the tunnel!
