X Ray Results

My DH had an urgent chest X ray today - he has been feeling unwell and has had a productive cough for a few months now and we are worried. Has anyone been through this? How long is the wait for the x ray results? Thanks.

He should have been told after his xray was taken how long to expect results. We normally advise a week to ten days as results are reported, typed and posted out. I hope you don't have too long to wait and everything turns out ok.

I think my results were back within a week though i was away and had a letter from my GP waiting for me upon my return.

hope all will be fine for your dh btw Smile

Thank you both. Izzy, yes, we were told to expect ten days. I just wondered if they tell people it will be much longer than it actually is, in case of problems/delays and so on. I suppose I am hoping it will be much quicker - ten days seems like a very long time at the moment.

Thanks MaryAnn. He has always been very healthy and fit so fingers crossed this is nothing sinister.

I was collected by ambulance a few years ago with a swollen tongue after a week of flu and not being able to get my high temperature down.
They took an x-ray of my chest as flu often causes a chest infection. I was told it was fine.

6 weeks later, my GP's receptionist phoned to say they had got the results of my chest X-ray and dr wanted to see me < it did show a chest infection>

But I seem to be unlucky, as had to wait 3 years for the result of an MRI scan on my knee !!! Same hospital.

Digerd, that's AWFUL! (And makes 10 days sound quite reasonable, so thanks!)

Both were unusual, I must add. Others I have had are back in about 2 weeks at the most.

This same hospital failed to diagnose my heart problem from 2003-2007, when it was diagnosed privately. Despite having abnormal ECGs before 2 small ops and having an echocardiogram in which nothing was found, just a year before the private diagnosis . So not amused with that hospital.
