Croup, roughly every 2 weeks, it's driving me nuts

Ds has croup again, couging and whooping like a seal and got very noisy breathing. He gets it, it lasts about 4 days, goes away and then hey presto 2 weeks later (sometimes less) it is back again.

He was as right as rain yesterday. Spent last night in my bed cos of painful feet/legs (another story) and then woke up sounding like a seal.

He has previosuly been treated with steroids for it after he had 2 really bad bouts at about 2 yrs old.

Is it normal to get it so often though ? We are just going round in circles and he is having loads of time off nursery.

dd gets it in cycles (we too have it at the mo) - she'll get it for a few nights every couple of weeks then we won't get it for ages

but she has asthma so I'm not sure if the two are connected

does he have an inhaler?

He has had an inhaler in the past as he was diagnosed as a 'happy wheezer' as a baby, but i personally think he may now be asthmatic.

I occasionally give him his sisters inhaler (bad i know) but he does improve after.

I have no idea how croup and asthma are related but dd definitely improves after she's had her inhaler aswell

perhaps he needs the other inhaler aswell

I don't know how old your ds is but I found that it completely knackered dd and her behaviour started to deteriorate when she went through those croup cycles. Now she's on the steroid inhaler (the becotide as well as teh ventolin) we definitely get less croup.
