I have a history of back problems and have been admitted to hospital before with suspected cauda equina syndrome. I wasn't operated on at the time but had all the "red flag" symptoms of sciatica in both legs and incontinence (urinary and bowel)
I have recently started seeing a chiropractor and he has not touched my lower back at all and won't until he's seen my MRI scans. I was telling him that I've had the same sciatic pains and tingling in both legs again and he said that if I become incontinent I should go to A&E straight away.

Anyway, to get to the point earlier on I had a bad coughing fit and wet myself, now would you say this was just stress incontinence from having had 2 children etc or something more serious?

I operate on a generally cautious principle with health issues, so I would say yes, go and get t checked out, on the grounds you don't know if it is serious or not. The risk of it being untreated would presumably be pretty bad, if someone has advised you go straight to A&E. It may of course all be fine, but I personally would probably get it checked given what you have been told.

have since done a normal wee, so have decided to leave it for now and put it down to a generally weak bladder! Will speak to the chiropractor when I go there on tuesday.
