Thrush-using a pessary?

I think I might have thrush. I started using canesten cream last night, but doesn't seem to have helped much.

There was also a pessary in the pack, which I'm thinking of using, but I haven't been to doctor. If I insert the pessary and it is not thrush, will I do myself any harm?
