Medised

Has anyone used Medised on a 7mo old before. My DS has had a bad cough for three weeks now, and a cold for about a month. We've not had a decent nights sleep in that long and we are totally exhausted. Someone recommended we try medised but wanted advice to see if this is a good route to go.

Hi there, the laws on dispensing certain medicines to under 2's has changed very recently, in the last couple of months (sorry don't seem to be able to find a link to the relevant info on BBC website or the like). Pharmacists are now no longer allowed to sell Medised and some cough syrups for children under 2. Apparently this is linked to a few cases where young children had be administered large doses of medicines in inappropriate circumstances (i.e. to make them sleep when they weren't actually ill iyswim). Packaging on the medicines in question have been changed but it will obviously take some time for the changes to filter down onto the shop floor.

I have used medised quite a bit with ds (just turned 2) as he suffered unbelievable pain with his teeth. Each erruption signalled two weeks of screaming, biting and general misery. Calpol didn't even touch the spot, especially at night and medised was the only thing that gave any of us some sleep! Thankfully they are all through now!

Anyway ihth
