How long should a bump on the head hurt?

Stupid really.
Gave myself a right crack on the head with the corner of the car door on Saturday. You know, the sort of accident when you pray no-one is looking. I saw stars and staggered a bit at the time.
Well its still extremely sore and is tender to touch.
Am feeling a bit sorry for myself. Pathetic really as my grandad is so ill in hospital, but I am trying not to think about it.
Anyway. Back to my head. Should it still be hurting like this?

I would say just as long as a bruise anywhere else on the body so in my case, days. But it was right on to bone so prob even longer. I know what you mean, I did it on the same corner twice last week. Felt really stupid and checked no-one was watchingBlush

Hi ya yorkiegirl.
Bumps can be painful for a while.
The pain in itself is not so worrying if it is just pain where the bruis is.

If you have anyother symptoms, dizzyness, sickness, balance problems, black eyes, fluid (not snot) from your nose or ears then you should get this investigated further.
Were you knocked out at the time?
will be on MSN tomorrow morning if you need a chat.
You know the score though, if your worried, NHS 24 if you are really worried, A and E

Hi Yorkie, you're not alone, last year I put dd1 into neighbour's car for school run and cracked my forehead on his roof rack! I really tried not to cry as I didn't want her to think I was crying because she was going to school (and because I was embarrased of course!!)

Anyway, the point is that it still hurt off and on a month later, and so I finally decided to get it checked out where I discovered I'd got a hairline fracture! They told me it could take up to 8 weeks to get better but that they couldn't have done anything anyway if I'd have gone earlier!
