How do I get rid of a twitchy eye?

The muscle in my right eye, lower lid, has been twitching for the past three days... I was tired over the weekend so I put it down to that, but I had a good 8 hours sleep last night and it's still twitching. What can I do?

Deliberately blinking as long as comfortable is supposed to help, according to GP.

I get it if I'm tired. It usually lasts a few days then just stops. It's very annoying.

I get it if something massively stressful has happened or is happening - like a blow-out fight or a sudden shock. It does tie in with tiredness but is triggered for me, only by stress. It always goes after a few days - if I can catch up on sleep, avoid caffiene, alcohol, the usual suspects. Try not to fret about it, it could make it worse.

Taking a potassium and a magnesium supplement works really well at getting rid of a twitchy eye. I had one that had been going for weeks and read about this on mn and tried it and within 3-4 days it had completely settled down. Have had it again a couple of times since and the supplements sorted it out each time - also worked for my dh too who was initially very sceptical it would sort it out.
