Hello. Im in need of some help please. I have endometriosis, polycystic overies and was wondering if anyone has ever had lower back pain and hip pain with this diese? im having trouble getting a scan and the doctors are saying that it cant be linked although everything started at the same time.
And everything i read seems to suggust that it is all linked.

Hi, I had 2 cysts on my ovaries that had to be removed through a laparoscopy, it was only when they looked inside they found I also had endometriosis, so I definitely think they are linked, personally I believe it caused by over oestrogen production but no doctors seem to know for sure

Hello casey. thanks for the quick reply. So do you think my lower pain is linked to the endo?. i just keep getting fobbed off by the doctor and he wont investigate it :( x

Hi, had to stop lurking and join mumsnet to say that yes this could be a symptom. Just read Hilary mantel's autobiography and she suffered leg pain from endometriosis. Took her years to be diagnosed. Apparently the wandering cells can bleed and cause scarring in various parts of the body and this can lead to nerve pain. Good luck, hope you get it sorted out.

Hello. thank you. now i just have to fight to get it diagnosed. How im gonna do that is beyond me as my doctor is amendment that its not connected.

winey I have endo and it is a horrible painful disease. Do not be fobbed off by this doctor. If he won't listen to you, see someone else who will.

wineyhouse12 · 24/02/2013 02:00

Thank you everyone for your help. i'm going to print off my research and talk to the doctor. wish me luck. x

Just been dx with probable endo and I get back pain too - apparently it can be a symptom. You have my sympathies, it's rubbish, but i second the suggestion of seeing another dr if this one is fobbing you off. I'm not sure doctors (is it wrong to say especially male ones?) have a massive understanding of endo.

Yes I've had both lower back pain and hip pain over the years. Both causes were endometriosis, pelvic pain is a common feature of this disease. Any pain that is cyclical in nature and or gets worse up to and including menses should be checked throughly to see if endo is the underlying cause.

Would suggest you now keep a daily pain and symptom diary if you do not already do this; this will also give the gynae clues.

With regards to a scan, an internal ultrasound will not detect endometriosis if it is there. It is usually only diagnosed through a keyole surgery op called a laparoscopy.

wineyhouse - if doc is unhelpful, seek out another. Am not certain what sort of doctor you are referring to in your initial post but if it is the GP, many of them can be pretty much ignorant when it comes to endometriosis. You really need to see a specialist consultant gynae, one with vast experience and up to date knowledge of endo.

www.endo.org.uk is a helpful website.

Hello. well the back pain started when the womb pains started which is why i think it is connected. the leg pain started after 3rd physio session. the pain in the back is constant. always there. yeah is a gp that is unsympathetic and yes male. Are there experts on the nhs? x

Hi , was discovered I had endo aged 17, now nearly 48.
Had x8 Yag laser treatments as could not have the drug therapy as suffered deppresion, told this would make it worse.
Despite my age, symptoms seem to be coming back with a rage! Always affected low back....had ligaments attaching womb??? severed by laser as these were sticking badly.
My back is now crippling me midway during my cycle, no pain relief works.
What sucks for me is the amazing consultant I have always had just retired, want it all removed!
Nervous of seeing new dr. Had several miscarriges, ectopic but lucky I know to have been blessed with children.
Keep hounding gp, as said before, they are not experts in endo and normal scans dont pick it up.
Today my pain down my legs too and bang in the middle of the month!
As women we should not have to put up with this, really hope you get somewhere op, good luck.
