Hi, I woke up yesterday morning fine but as the day went on started to experience bad joint pain, toes , knees and worst of all my hands especially my thumbs..The pain is like when you pull muscles at the gym so achy.. I am 46 and I have never had this before I've had no sleep last night as my hands were tingly and slightly swollen..All this has started suddenly I've also had itchy feet for the last couple of nights..
The pain isn't as bad in my knees this morning but my hands and thumbs ache as I'm typing they feel slightly tingly.. I'm so worried as to what it could be my husband says I should go to A & E :(...
I was taking 1000mg Evening Primrose oil but a few days ago I started getting headaches not sure if there's any connnection but I stopped taking them..
Any advice please :(Could it be the start of the menopause I'm so worried,,

Sorry, no advice but watching as I have the similar symptons and wondered if it was related to a post virile thing?

Has anyone in your family had slapped cheek?

wonkylegs · 23/02/2013 17:50

I have inflammatory arthritis and it sounds like you could have either reactive arthritis or viral arthritis (I could be jumping to conclusions because I have RA, it just sounds familiar)
Check out these links and see if they sound right - www.arthritisresearchuk.org/arthritis-information/conditions/reactive-arthritis.aspx

Hi Carmen66, I have these symptoms and came on here looking to see if anyone else has it. The pains have been all round my body this last week. First thumbs, shoulders, very stiff achy neck. Then legs, knees, feet. Back. Now it's my hands and it's agony in the mornings when i wake up. Can't grip. Hands go all bloodless and tingly when I try to and the pain is bad. Gets better during the day but still achy. Exhausted by the afternoon and desperate for sleep. Am wondering if it's viral as I had a sore throat for three days last weekend and then a rash for two days all over my body. then the pains.
Sorry for long post but just wanted to share and say that I'm going to the doctors tomorrow if still bad.

Hi, I had an awful night last night the pain in my left hand was so bad & it kept going numb like I had slept on it.. I was literally in tears with the pain and worry.. I went to A & E early this morning as I just can't take the pain any more both my hands are swollen & my fingers are so stiff and hurt to bend..

The Dr doesn't know what it is she said it could be post viral I did have a cold last week or it could be Carpel Tunnel syndrome which I'm hoping it's not as that's a very painful condition she gave me some strong pain killers which have worked & brought the swelling down but my fingers are still achy.. I have an appt with my Dr on Tuesday so I will see if I can have some further tests done I've never experienced anything like this before it just came out of the blue on Friday... I hope that you feel better soon hun let me know how you get on at the Dr's ..

Carpel tunnel does not tend to come on suddenly, it is more of a gradual thing. I had surgery two years ago on my right hand for CT and should really have my left hand done as well but the recovery was long and painful so I am ignoring it at the moment, which in itself is a ba d idea.

carmen66 · 24/02/2013 20:43

Hi Moomoomie, I don't know what to think the dr said it could be CT but I've never had pains in my hands before.. My fingers are still stiff & I have slight tingling on the tips of my left hand.. I'm so hoping to get some sleep tonight :(.. I hope that you feel better soon ..

hi I have this too at the moment.

i had a virus last week, and still not right , my GP thought it was measles, I think it was paravirus, now I have awful wist, fingers neck and knee selling nas pain.

Neither of my kids seemed to have paravirus but I do work with kids.

carmen66 · 25/02/2013 09:27

Sorry to hear that you've been unwell Florry88, have you got swelling on your joints and tingling? I kept waking up last night with tingling & numbness on both hands mainly my fingers I then find myself moving my fingers around it feel's as though I have slept on them, my left hand fingers are the worst they still feel tingly, I haven't really been ill apart from a cold. The antiflammatory tablets that the hospital gave me have helped with the pain and swelling but I'm still worried sick as to what is causing it I've never had problems like this :(

Hi Carmen66. Glad you got some painkillers and are feeling a bit better. Hope it's not CT! My hands are much better today. Can grip without being in agony and only slight tingling/pain. My legs are aching though! Feel a bit better in myself too - still woozy but just generally less exhausted and grim. Have decided not to go to Doctors today and see if it improves. Have a strong feeling it's a post viral thing so I hope yours is too and that it goes away soon. Very strange. Certainly not had anything like this before.

carmen66 · 25/02/2013 11:50

Hi totallyupskittled, pleased that your feeling a bit better today.
Are your hands swollen, mine were really bad they didn't feel like my hands .I'm thinking all sorts of things Viral (which I'm hoping) CT :(or Arthritis. It's worrying the finger tips on my left hand are still tingling a little.. Although the pain has gone & I have better mobility it worries me that I'm waking through the night with numb fingers that seem's to take a long time to recover. I have an appt tomorrow with my GP I'm not sure that she will have any answers ..

Yes my hands are swollen. Having trouble putting on my rings. I reckon I've had this about a week now. If you count the sore throat and rash, then over a week, so hopefully yours will start to improve soon. Good luck with the GP tomorrow. I'd be interested to hear what she says. Have

totallyupskittled · 25/02/2013 13:06

Have been looking up all sorts of stuff on the internet and scaring myself silly! Smile

carmen66 · 25/02/2013 13:07

Our symptoms do sound very much the same, maybe yours is to do with your sore throat & rash.. I hope that you start to feel better soon too hun, I will let you know how I get on tomorrow and maybe book yourself in with your Dr :)
