Why do i seem to be constantly ill?

Bit of background, was a sickly child, caught every cough, cold and tummy bug going and by age 16 had suffered with meningitis twice, glandular fever that resulted in a stay in ICU and a pulmonary embolism.

My general health seemed to improve wth age, and there were never any underlying causes identified, just bad luck I think.

Well fast forward ten years and I seem to be under the weather again. Since sept 12 I have had a burst ovarian cyst, flu, tonsilitis, chest infection, kidney infection (which I today finished antibiotics for) and now low and behold today have woken up with a fever, and a sore throat that is covered in yellow spots.

I am really at the end of my tether, I sat and cried this morning because this constant feeling of illness is getting me down. Sad

I need to be at my fittest as have 3 dcs under 10, one being SN. My husband is really starting to worry now and if I'm honest I am too.
Have arranged docs appt for 5pm but I feel they might be a little sick of seeing me...

I have had a similar thing for over twelve months had all the tests including immune system tests and nothing showed up, my beautician suggested she swears by probiotics if taking antibiotics and I have taken them and have been 90% better!

I think something like 80% of your immune system is in your gut so probiotics are a really good idea.

It must be very hard with 3 young children, how are your stress levels? Stress can really affect your immune system. You say you recently had a kidney infection? Your kidneys are linked to your adrenal glands which are affected by stress.

I know it is hard but if you are constantly getting run down, then not getting the adequate amount of rest to recover it becomes a vicious circle. You may just need to really look after yourself for a while. Eat loads of fruit and veg, reduce sugar etc.

Get the docs to run a test on iron levels and a general blood test to rule out deficiencies.

I personally rate the herb Astralagus. It is said to boost your immune system. It could be a coincidence but I never get ill when I am on it, then I run out and seem to get ill.

Good luck at the docs.
