Hi all I was had a cold about 5 weeks ago now. Normal cold lasted a couple of days then for 3 weeks after I kept feeling unwell on and off fine one day bad the next. Then 2 weeks ago I was very unwell lasted 4/4 days the worst was the pain all over. Dr said did bloods and said it was post viral malaise and I got a sock not for 2 weeks ( 1 week left). The past week I've been feeling ok in myself but am suffering with pain in My legs if I do nothing its fine but if I don't spend all day doing nothing then I'm suffering. For example today I have hovered the bed room washed the dishes and cooked tea, hardly much but I'm in pain and know I'm going to have a crap nights sleep.
So I'm looking for advice when I Google it all I get is cfs . Anyone had any experiece of this how long unfilled all is back to normal. I'm the only one working and can't afford any time off work bit know I can return until better. I work 12 hr shifts as a nursing auxalliary so if I can't even do a bit of house work I'm never going to manage 12hr on My feet.
Thanks for reading and any help x

I am currently having the same problem, I had a virus about six weeks ago, and have been in pain and had very limited energy since. It is slowly getting better, I now have some days where I feel ok so long as I take it very easy.

The gp said that it is not uncommon for this to last six weeks, or longer, in rare cases up to a year! She said that its normal to have good days followed by bad days. Her advice was, that on a good day, I should only try to do one thing. So that's hoovering OR cooking the tea, OR doing the dishes. Easier said than done when you have kids though.

I'm finding I struggle with my mood on a bad day, the constant pain is draining, and it feels like I will never recover, it has been going on so long. Being stuck indoors a lot, no adult contact from work is also bringing me down.

Sorry, I don't know how useful this is for you, I would say you are probably trying to do too much, if I overdo things, I will definitely have a bad day or two. Pathetically, doing the dishes and hoovering counts as overdoing things right now Smile Sad

{hugs}

Well I was right about the crap nights sleep.
Sorry to hear your going through the same thing Andrews.
Who would have though it could take so long to get over a cold lol.
When I'm feeling well I real such a fraud if I don't do anything . Suppose I will just have to continue with the rest and pain killers.

I know exactly what you mean. I keep threatening to go back to work on good days, because, while I am sitting still, I don't feel ill. Then I need to go upstairs, and collapse in a heap!
