Colposcopy - how do you feel afterwards?

After a series of abnormal smears, my latest result has triggered a referral for a colposcopy. I know this isn't serious, but I dread smears and really hate having them so this news is very unwelcome.

I know the procedure takes only a matter of minutes. Will I be ok to go straight back to work or should I take the day (or half-day) as annual leave?

I know I sound a bit pathetic. I just hate examinations of this sort and I don't know if there'll be any discomfort afterwards.

I had one last summer, I'd say you should be fine to go to work.
I did, took own pads for afterwards, took paracetamol straight afterwards and some more later on that evening.
Was a bit uncomfortable, both during and after but bearable imo.
I remember feeling a bit sore the day after but again nothing paracetamol didn't help.
Hope all goes well

Mine all took about 20-25 minutes, and I went back to work after one but not the other. I did feel a bit wobbly - not because they hurt (they don't) but because I was quite on edge, and felt exhausted afterwards. If they take a biopsy, it will be a bit uncomfortable, and you may get cramping pains afterwards. Recommend painkillers before you go in, and taking your own sanitary towel unless you want to experience the brick-like monstrosities of your (my) school-days.

It will be fine x

Thanks were and dreams. Good tips. Glad I don't need to sacrifice any annual leave ? I don't have much to spare. Getting married this year so much of it is already booked up!

I feel absolutely fine, I find them tickly and get the giggles.

At the first one I had a biopsy and the site later got infected and I had some weird black/brown bloody discharge for a few weeks until I went I a doctor. One course of antibiotics and I was fine.

I had the punch biopsy and watched it on tv.
It's funny how going through childbirth toughens you up!!
