I have been taking these for 3 weeks week one 15mg down to 5mg week three for bad eczema/allergies.So I was in top gear while on higher dosage .New lease of life really. However, while finished the course this week day 1 being free of them yesterday I honestly thought I would scream and cry with itch all over me.Awake last night and very uneasy. Is this reaction to be expected?I am seeing specialist soon but in mean time I am at a loss as to whether I should go back on 1 a day...Any experience of these tablets? Thanks xx

The Prednisolene steroid you were taking was for your Excema/allergies and assume that your problems were itching? Your problems went away on the steroids and now they have sopped the itching is back?
Or did you not have itching before, and were other problems?

Yes I have had itching before and now this whole thing is back a big flare up.I am assuming it is due to the sudden stopping of steroids.Maybe I am wrong but I was good all month.how annoying...going back to your question i was also suffering prior to taking tablets

are you still taking antihistamine?

Then the course of this steroid did not work for you. I have only one experience of an allergy and that was a dangerous swollen tongue. I was in A&E on intravenous dose of Hydrocortisone for 4 hours, before it began to go down. I do not remember what is was called. But I went home with 8 tablets to take at once daily which disolved in water for another week, plus antihistamines. So think mine were different from yours as I just stopped when they ran out.
Many years ago I did take Cortisone for 6 weeks and had to reduce the dosage by a Quarter each week. I'll never forget that first week as I felt 20 years younger and with so much energy and never felt tired. But I had no itchy symptoms or an allergy, it was an infection in my Thyroid gland, which i didn't know I had.
Hope your appt with the specialist is sooner than later, as he has to try to find a solution to rid you of your awful itching Good Luck

Thank you for answering.Yes I am taking an antihistamine by day and by night.I went back and took 10mg prednisolene today and am improved tonight. This is a step backwards really as I was to be finished taking them by now.I have a weeks supply left so I hope I can cope by then....
