pulling her hair out

My 2 yr old is pulling her hair out when drinking her milk. She only does it when she is tired and it seems to comfort her.

My health visitor has advised to use hair spray to make her hair hard so the sensation is not the same but her baby hair wont hold the hairspray. My health visitor has also suggested putting gel or mouse in her hair so that the feeling is not so nice and giving her a fluffy teddy to stroke. We are trying these now.

I have read previous feeds that advise cutting my 2 yr olds hair really short but I really dont want to do this.

Does anybody who's had any experience of this have some tips on what's worked for your children?

Fabric hairbands, the ones that look like scarves. Will stop her being able to get to her hair Smile

DS2 now 4 used to do this (and twiddle my hair too) I didn't really do anything and he grew . His hair was shortish and it didn't stop it . I think its just a comfort thing

My DD did the same. She'd suck her thumb whilst pulling her hair. We sought out GPs advice and he said as long as we werent worried too much about her that she would stop eventually and it'd grow back. We cut her hair short so she couldn't twirl it around her fingers. And she did stop. I thought it was a comfort thing. She moved on to twirling fluff around her fingers and sucking her thumb Smile
