Cancer diagnosis and treatment support...struggling

Hi, I'm a 66 year old lady who was diagnosed with endometrial cancer grade 2 just before Christmas. I've had a hysterectomy and the pathology has come back positive, not gone into lymph nodes and cancer has not spread. However they have decided to give 5 weeks of radiotherapy and 4 sessions of chemo as a precautionary measure. I am struggling to come to terms with the treatment plan, in particular loosing my hair and any side effects, short term or long term.

Can anyone please give me any positive stories on radiotherapy and chemo that can hopefully give me a boost.

My mum has had Chemo and radiotherapy twice, and didn't lose her hair on either occassion.

The chemo isn't pleasant, but not as bad as you might think, she said it made her feel worse as it went on, because it builds up in her system, but it is a whole lot better than the alternative!

Great news that your lymph nodes are clear, and that it hasn't spread. Try to keep positive, the side effects will pass and you can get on with enjoying life.

hello CharlieBoo - so sorry to hear of your diagnosis - if you'd like some hand holding and good,not scary reassurance then do head to the tamoxifen thread - fwiw I;'ve had radiotherapy for breast cancer which was very doable and am currently having chemotherapy for advanced bc -no hair loss and dose adjusted to give fewer side effects.
