Neuropraxia - does it always get better?

Well, that's it really! Just really fed up - have painful and numb thumb (numb area down one side) and it aches worse when I've been using it. Got it after a botched cannulation about 3 weeks ago. Saw GP who thinks it will go in 'next few weeks'. I am not convinced. Other things wrong too so this feels like last straw.
