Chipped Tooth - What Will Dentist Do?

Chipped my front tooth the other day, only a tiny bit, not too noticeable, but I can see it's uneven.
Just wondering what the dentist will do? Am panicking he'll extract it!!! I have an appt tomorrow, so want to be prepared for eventualities. Anyone know what I can expect.

It's unlikely the dentist will extract a chipped tooth. Depending on how bad it is you'll get a white filling.

Probably a white filling.

White filling or worst case a crown

Dentists don't like taking teeth out

Thanks so much for replies. Have only had a filling at the back. How do they fill a chipped tooth?
If he thinks it's not very severe, might he do nothing? Or would that have consequences?

they will usually xray and it depends on how far up the tooth the damage is will determine what they will do

the filling is generally just to protect the exposed area of the tooth from further damage and just pushes onto the end of the tooth

if the nerve is damaged then you will need a crown but this might not be apparent for months in the future -keep an eye out for either the tooth changing colour or a lump appearing n your gum above the tooth as that means the nerve has died

Many many thanks, sausagesandwich: I feel a bit more prepared now. Thank you.
