Anyone know about heart ablations?

DH had one this weekend and has just got home. Everything checks out fine. However I am quite surprised at how knocked out he is, he has terrible swelling in his thighs where the catheters were and is hobbling about. He is also very breathless and can't get more than about 10 words out at a try.

It's all to be expected and whilst I'm not worried about him, it would be reassuring to hear from someone who has experience of the procedure if possible.

Breathlessness would worry me, not the thighs expect some horrendous bruising int he next few days.
Was he breathless leaving hospital, or is newly onset? What sort of ablation do you know?

My uncle has had ablations done, his heart repeatedly trips out. His latest one was few weeks ago, he came out really relaxed and chilled out. The breathlessness and not being able to get full sentence out would concern me I'd ring NHS direct or gp on call x

My sister has had two. Neither worked. It really took its toll on her, she was very, very breathless. I'd still get it checked out.

Hmm he is just as breathless as he was when he left hospital, they told him to expect it for 3 days as he had a camera in his trachea. They said it might need a second go. Thanks all, good to hear others' stories.
