endometrial ablation

Has anyone had this done? Did it take much time to recover? I am going in for it in 3 months, and I a bit nervous.

I had it carried out along with a couple of other procedures about 3 years ago. GA, stayed in overnight and had a bit of stomach ache the next day. Was absolutely fine.

Its the best thing i ever had done.
Did not have any discomfort after at all.had it done on the friday and back to work monday morn.
And the best thing is i havent had a period since i had it done 3 years ago.

Ditto! I had it done mid-December - feeling similarly nervous - and was delighted with the whole procedure! I felt whoozy for a couple of days afterwards (probably the G.A.) and had period-type pains, but nothing severe. I had a very, very light period in January - 3 pads! - which was a complete revelation after years of 'flooding'. Have it done with confidence!

I had it done nearly 6 yrs ago. Thermal ablation it was called where hot water is used but there may be various methods for the same outcome. It's been great no periods or problems since. Minimal discomfort, I actually felt fine iirc. Good luck!

Hi sold - can I ask what youve got?

I have endometriosis and a cyst on an ovary have had one lap to diagnose but am trying to manage pain (dont have it every month) with pain killers etc... but know that this will be my last resort at some point if the cyst grows or my pain is unbareable.

Ive heard that the best form of removal for endo is excision as it cuts it all out

Hi Mumma~ I have crazy periods and severe anemia. I bleed 8-10 oz a day when I'm on, I have zero energy and I feel cold, dozy and irritable all the time, plus a lot of headaches.
I had endometriosis when I was younger, along with ovarian cycts, but a lot of that cleared up after my second pregnancy.
I have always had bad periods, but they have been worse for the last few years. I talked to my previous gp, and he said "That is too bad, take some iron"

I moved across country, and have a new gp, who completely listens, and even better, is doing something to help me! I am hopeful for the first time in years.

I had the op just over 2 years ago. Had periods that lasted 12-13 days, super heavy. Used to feel terrible. After the op, I was a different person, periods were 4-5 days and light, for the first year i didn't have to use tampons!!

They have got a bit heavier over the last year but still not anywhere near like they used to be. It has changed my life.
