Anxious about scan tomorrow :(

Hi

Im having an ultrasound scan tomorrow as I have had lower abdominal pain for the last 6 weeks. My gp seems to think I have ovarian cysts and after looking on the internet I do have most of the symptoms - pain, fatigue, bloating, heartburn, pain in leg.

Im feeling so anxious about it, have family history of ovarian cancer. Ive been really tearful for the past two days with the worry of the scan and the pain has been quite bad this week as im due on.

Just need to talk to people on here and get a bit of reassurance.

I know it's hard not to worry but remember the most likely outcome is that it is a cyst. Especially if the pain gets worse before your period. I have had ovarian cysts and the pain was definitely linked to hormone fluctuations.

I know it's hard not to worry when you have a family history but it's good that you are getting it all checked out. Your GP sounds efficient and reassuring, exactly what you want in a GP.

Family history is only linked to about 10% of cancers, so often it is overplayed, causing people who have a family history to worry unnecessarily.

It's natural to think of worse case scenarios, but the chance it is something sinister is really small.
