Diastasis recti

I am looking for some advice about having diastasis recti surgically repaired. Over the last few years I have seen physios, yoga and pilates instructors , my GP and a consultant in the hernia part of the hospital and they all agree I have severe diastasis recti. I know i can't get it fixed on the NHS.

I would be pleased to have a flatter stomach but most of all I want/need functioning stomach muscles. I am otherwise fit and fairly slim but I am finding myself limited in what I can do because of having no core strength. My back can be painful and I can only imagine it will get worse.

I have 3 children and no intention of having any more. I live in London and would be prepared to pay for surgery in principle (though it depends a bit on how much it costs). I have done quite a lot of research but am struggling to work out where is the best place to have it done and whether the end result is likely to be more than just cosmetic - i.e. will I be able to do sit ups or go climbing again eventually? I would be really grateful for any advice.
