In about 4 hours I'm booked in to have E.R.C.P and I'm terrified

Its a camera down my throat into my stomach. The absolutely only way I have agreed to this procedure is under a general anaesthetic but I'm scared of the procedure, scared about what they'll find and unhappy that my surgeon refuses to do my breast reconstruction until I have this done.

Has anyone had this op under a general please?

No I haven't but just wanted to say good luck,and from friends who have had same they both said was at worst uncomfortable/unpleasant but ok, not a nightmare or unbearable, that was without ghe anaesthetic You might well have sore throat after so get some throat sweets it lozenges, but you will be mire worried about results. Do you have anyone to go with you? someone else can be more helpful here but it's so late and I logged on unable to sleep myself.

I had one of these last december while I was 38 weeks pregnant and like you I refused to have local anaesthetic so went under general.
Everything was fine, you have no knowledge of what is happening. I didn't have a sore throat or anything and the staff looked after me.
The most upsetting thing I found was wen my son came to visit me in the evening he wouldn't come near me as I was being fed through a tube they had put through my nose into my stomach.

Louboo can you tell me how long you had to stay in hospital please, I'm shaking quite a lot and I've a feeling this will stay until its done

It was different for me as I had to be closely monitored for DD as I had prancreatitus (can't spell it) so still had huge doses of antibiotics and painkillers to have before they let me home. Has your consultant told you what may happen?
A few months ago I had my Gall bladder out under general anaesthetic and I was out the same day, they pretty much want to keep you in the shortest time possible xxx
I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine, have you got someone to hold your hand?

Why did you have to be fed with a tube afterwards? I had mine done under a light sedation, but was aware of everything, and went home after a few hours.
Had one years before that, but I was overdosed on the sedation and slept for 2 hours . Never did I need feeding with a tube, nor my DH who had one searching for any cancer.

Think it was to do with the pancreatitus. I remember very little of December 2011 as I had a lot of morphine and other pain killers to keep me comfortable. But I remember DS visiting me and refusing to give me a hug goodbye because of it (I cried myself to sleep that night) and begging the nurse to take it out at 5 in the morning as I could feel it at the back of my tonsils.

I had one done and due to me and DH TTC they could not give me anything so I was awake the whole way through. Had sore throat for a day or so but used a spray that helped.

That sounds awful for you. Bet you made up the hugs with DS when you got home.

It just occurred to me I hadn't returned to my op, sorry about that

I had the procedure as planned, it wasn't great but it wasn't as bad as I'd feared either. They removed a tiny gallstone, still coming to terms with having to have this done when I've had no symptoms, and now more so when they explained how very minute it was.

I've had a week of crippling constipation which ended up with laxatives followed by suppositories, TMI but I now know where the sun don't shine
