When I was expecting dd2 I went right off tea to the extent I've not really touched it since. Dd is now 2 and in that time I've drunk coffee as a main drink. Over the summer holidays I had a series of really bad headaches and stumbled across the fact that a coffee quickly makes me feel better and I'm now sure I have a caffeine addiction...not in an "I must have coffee" way, more increasingly bad headaches if I don't. I've tried over the last few months to go 'half & half' and mixing coffee with decaff, and also soft drinks, but it seems to leave me with a 'neither here nor there' headache by mid afternoon. The last couple of days I've given up feeling rough and had normal coffee and have honestly never felt so well. On chatting to a friend about this she asked does it really matter? And I really don't know. Can I
safely just carry on drinking it? I have on average 6 or 7 cups a day.

I guess it depends on how well your body tolerates coffee and how coffee makes you feel. I really enjoy coffee but can only have one strong cup of (filter/espresso) in the morning. If I have any more than that or have the same amount but in the afternoon, I can't sleep. However we're all different and I seem to be quite sensitive to it's effects.

Maybe you could try cutting down to perhaps four a day? That is four 'proper' coffees rather than half and half and go from there.
