Cracked a rib?

Just had a coughing fit in which my left hand side went a crack/pop! Couldn't move for a few minutes as it hurt like crazy!
Its at the top just under bra line.
How it hurts like crazy when I cough and move in certain ways. Generally it feels tight and sore in that area too. Deep breaths hurt too.

Does it sound like a cracked rib? Anyone any experience?

Not normally, more like a strained muscle. I had that once but from coughing it was all round from the sides to the front - all the rib muscles were hurting, but only when coughing, not breathing.
