I've changed my name for this as I'm a regular and very ashamed of myself. God, I hope it changesBlush I am really scared and worried about the amount of alchohol I drink and I need to stop, now. I "posted" this in my head earlier and decided it would be too long, so here's a shorter version. I have read some of the other threads about alcohol and agreed with them all. Full of good intentions but can't stop. Just habit really, not drinking mornings, or even lunch times. Just start cooking tea and reach for the wine. I am really podgy now and need to lose weight for June, when I'm going on holiday. Help please, straight talking's great but it won't stop me. Sympathy would be good tooSmile but I feel like a completely crap mum and a boozy personSad

Boozefree - well done. Good luck tonight, you can do this!

Just seen this - well done Boozefree for doing something about this

DH and I also drink too much but we spend half our lives worrying about it and cutting down/stopping for a month here and there so I think we jsut about manage to stay on the safe side (ie half a bottle of wine each a night, try and have at least two nights off a week, if we have people round for dinner we drink a LOT more usually but that is only once every couple of weeks)

I would like to get to the situation where I don't drink 5 nights a week, or only have one glass of wine. I am working on it (aided by a kidney infection which makes me vom at the thought of a drink!)

Good luck to you, I will be watching this thread. BTW I do find that a month or even 2 weeks off a couple of times a year sorts me out.

Well done Boozefree I am really pleased for you! Same as with smoking, lots of little steps make up a huge leap - even if you can only see it some way down the line.

Good luck Smile

I awoke this mornig to a soaking wet crying baby, a 6 yr old in knickers having had no breakfast and it was 8:10 and my mouth felt like something had crawled into it and died.I found 2 empty fag packets(suppoesed to have given up 4 weeks ago) and 3 yes three empty bottles of 12%white wine.my friend was over last night and he was drinking stells and not wine, so I drank 3 bottles. i still feel rough as shit now and I am going to quit drinking for 6 weeks and then never drink that much akk at once ever again. I need to know why I do it and sort it out, thats what the booze-free 6 weeks is all about. I need to understand what goig on and sort it.
Good luck to all who are trying to cut down be strong Smile

OK-small confession. BUT am quite proud of myself...one very tiny G&T, not until after 6pm and one, yes one, tiny glass of red wine. That's it for tonight.GrinGood luck everyone!
