Had in hand for 12 hours on mon while I had baby. Was sore at time but now soreness is spreading up and down the vein it was in. No signs of infection - not weeping and I have no temperature. Is this normal?

Not normal - possibly phlebitis.

Best have it looked at it just in case.

Congratulations on your baby.

Yes it can be normal. Probably slightly bruised even if not visible.

Think it depends on what was injected.
I remember my whole back of hand being bruised black once, but went away after a few days.
After a GA years ago, I got surface < non dangerous > blood clots in my wrist, which were very painful, and the veins in my had swelled up making me look so old.
I did go to GP though about the blood clots and he sent me to A&E, but were nothing to worry about.

I also had one in whilst giving birth on Monday but only for 5 hours in my case.

Today is the first day it hasn't been tender, no visible bruising, heat or redness but quite achy. Must admit I didn't get it checked out but I do tend to bruise and react to needles etc. really easily.

Congrats on the new baby Smile
