Bloody discharge before period???

I've had a period pain type ache today (and a little last night) and noticed I have dark discharge on my knickers which has blood in it (dark, not bright red). I've never had this before so thought I'd try ask you lot.

I'm on the pill and have been for ages and always regular. I'm due on on Sunday so a bit of an ache down there is probably due to that. Could this be why I have a bloody discharge? Is there any other reason I could have it???

I'm sure it's all fine, just wanted to ask :)

I sometimes get a discharge like your describing before period. I know its abit personal but having intercourse leading up to a period can also bring this on.

Have you recently had a child or is there a chance you could be pregnant? These can cause irregular discharges also.

You maybe should get it checked either way

i always get dark almost bloody, but not quite, discharge for a day or two before AF. never thought much of it really. that said i've had it since my first ever period so if it's never happened before maybe you should check with the gp, the pill is only 99% protection, there is a slight chance you could be pregnant and implanting and you'd need to get of the pill if that were the case.

I sometimes get this too (although I am not on the pill), I asked the practice nurse about it at a smear test and she said that it was more than likely a change in hormones after having DS2. It doesn't happen so much now.
