First time i've had it, had never even heard of cellulitis. Came on suddenly at work the Thurs before xmas. Right bicep ached and I could barely lift my arm, that evening I noticed there was a very red area, hot to touch and swollen. Went to walk in clinic the following morning and cellulitis was diagnosed, although the nurse didn't seem sure. Course of antibiotics and it cleared within two days, although foolishly I didn't complete the course, stopped after about five days, instead of seven.

Two weeks on my arm aches again, nowhere near as bad as before and slightly higher than bicep, more into armpit and shoulder. Hand tingling as well. No sign of redness or heat. Just feels very odd as though I've been o gym and overdone it.

any ideas you wise lot?

Anyone? Forgot to mention there's a throbbing in my right calf as well. I feel like I'm falling apart, what a crock! I'm only 44.

I had cellulitis diagnosed after insect bites on my ankle. The whole lower leg swelled up, and of course itched like mad.
I was put on ABs and antihistamine tablets as was suspected an allergic reaction.
I completed the course and eventually went, never to return - so far. That was in the first hot week we had this summer.

Sounds as though a visit to your GP might be an idea - do you mean you only saw the nurse last time, and she wasn't sure of the diagnosis? That doesn't sound reassuring.

Best get all the symptoms checked out properly.

I too only saw the nurse, who conversed with GP on computer about the type of ABs I should have, due to my allergies.

Thanks for replies. Didn't see gp, saw the nurse. Think I will go back today if poss. Seems worse in the mornings but it's def not right.

It's probably still infected. Sounds worrying that it's gone to your armpit. I had cellulitis on the top of my foot from a suspected spider bit and had antibiotics and antihistamines. The doctor asked if I had pain in my groin so I presume it's bad if the pain moves from the original site. The worst case scenario is blood poisoning so see your gp as a matter of urgency. And make sure you finish the antibiotics this time!

I don't mean to say I think you have blood poisoning now, just that that can be the eventual result if cellulitis is left untreated.
