What on earth is wrong with me?

Woke in the small hours of new year's day in agony. Shoulders, elbows, hips ,knees, jaw and neck really painful. Could barely move. Feverish. No better all day. Eventually dh called doc and one actually came out. Prescribed ibuprofen, codeine and paracetamol.

Fever went down, but unable to eat. Drank loads of water. Yesterday started eating a bit, Jacob's crackers, dry bread. Then started throwing up. Very hungry though, so much so my stomach was painful. Joint swelling reduced.

This evening we got Complan, as I was so painfully hungry but eating anything was just as painful and made me chuck. Had 3 lots, stomach now a bit better but have just narrowly avoided vomiting after the last lot. joints becoming painful again. No fever, but feeling very hot, opened windows but no cool air.

Any ideas?

And have now had another dose and thrown up.

What can I eat? I am so hungry it's painful. Have tried bread, crackers, bananas, yoghurt, Complan. They're all OK at first, but then start making me vomit.

I had norovirus, or something like it about 3 weeks ago. This is nothing like that. That was quite straight forward!

Can you not keep liquids down either? Phone NHS DIRECT

DP has a version of this at the moment - been going on for several days, a weird combination of flu (temperature, aching, coughing) and D&V. Very nasty. He can keep down liquids as long as he takes it slowly. Otherwise is just gritting his teeth and waiting to improve.

Thanks. Am finally improving. Joints are behaving more normally, temp down mostly. Water was staying down, but this evening I've had my first cuppa! Had some bread too. Finally on the mend!
