Inflamed sinuses (I'm guessing)

I really don't want to go to the GP about this so am hoping someone here has an idea!

I find it hard to breathe through my nose, however it is not blocked up so I'm guessing the sinuses are just inflamed. When I hold my nose and breathe out hard it forces open the sinus and gives me a couple of seconds where I can breathe normally, before it closes back up again. Can I do anything to fix this? I don't want to take decongestant pills all the time, this has been going on for years to be honest.

If you don't want to go to gp you can try neti pot type thing which rinses through your sinuses. Or try the saline nasal spray which you can get in boots. But frankly I would go to gp and get something. There are good nasal sprays now.

Inhale steam! I went to my GP with this at one point and because its generally viral all they will suggest is steam inhalation. Olbas oil is pretty good but even just hot (not boiling) water in a bowl, go under for a good 10 minutes with a towel. It'll give you some relief for a few hours,

Oh just read op properly - odd that its been going on for years - you probably do need to see your GP then!

Thanks. I'll buy a Neti Pot today. Not sure it'll work as I don't seem to have blocked sinuses but it can't hurt to try it.
