'PainGone' pen - any experiences?

Has anyone used one of these devices and did it work? My DM received a mailshot for one and is tempted as she suffers with painful joints and backpain. I'm a little sceptical and googling gives me great testimonials on their own website and a few 'don't bother with this' type ones on places like Amazon. Any information would be much appreciated.

Not come accross that one, but I have a TENS machine and that does work.

Does it give mini electric shocks? If so I've got a smaller version that you use on mozzie bites. Stops itchiness but can't comment on muscle pain etc. I guess it would interrupt the signals in your nerves but I don't know

Thanks both. DM has a TENS machine but doesn't really get on with it for whatever reason. Boxoftricks - I think it does give a little shock - some reviews of it say it's a bit like those things you use to light a gas cooker. I'm a bit Hmm about it but I think she may try it anyway.
