I had a thread like this a couple of days ago! but also found blood in dd's knickers.

I rang nhs direct and there advice was -

Make sure she drinks lots.
Ensure she wipes from front to back.
Keep good hygiene, regular baths with no bubbles and no longer than 15mins.
Calpol every four hours - although i didn't do this - couldn't see the point as the pain was only when she wee'd.
Ensure she wees regularly - at least once every four hours.

If she won't wee because it hurts the nurse told me to either pour warm water over her when she wees to soothe it - or to let her sit in a bath and wee.

If it was still painful after 24 hrs to get antibiotics from doc.

DD was lucky and the next morning she was fine.

Hope your little one is ok.

I used to get this a lot growing up, my mum always put sudocreme on me bits... It honestly seemed to help (maybe it was also psychological?!)

As an adult I suffer from repeated kidney infections, which is just plain horrid.. the following might help:

Up her Vitamin C
Cranberry Juice (try to get the least diluted)
A glass of water with bicarb soda - it helps regulate the acidity of the urine making it less painful to wee!
Warm bath with NO products..
Cotton knickers

If the problem persists get to the Dr. straight away and insist they take a urine sample (most can check for infection straight away!). Without wanting to worry you things like this can spread and become more painful
