Glasses

Went to the opticians today and it was suggested that I get reading glasses for the first time in my life. The prescription is 0.5 for both eyes and it's for reading paper not computers.

Anyhow the optician started to suggest expensive frames and coated and scratch resistant lenses which were coming to £200 plus.

I don't really read much during the day that's paper based, everything is on a computer and a large screen so these will be for an occasional use.

Do I need expensive glasses or would I get away buying the ones you see in supermarkets or other shops?

I think you can buy the cheapy ones just for reading, I have friends who have done this and found them ok.
