Bad PMT while on the pill?

I'm on femodette and have been for about 6 months. I was on it pre dc's and it was fine so went back to it afterwards.

However I don't think it's doing me any favours. I get very tearful a week before AF is due, angry, upset easily, short temper and craving carbs like mad (which is not ideal for my ibs). Then when my period starts/ the day before I get a really bad headache which doesn't shift easily.

The PMT is making me really hard to live with and add the headaches to that and I'm a miserable cow for 1 week out of every 4. :(

I'm going to go back to the dr. I'm guessing they'll either suggest a different type of pill or having a coil - which scares me a bit Blush

Any thoughts/ advice? Confused

I took the contraceptive patch for a while and I had the same thing - really bad PMT one week in every 4 with the same symptoms you describe. It got to the point where it was so unbearable I went to the GP and she told me to not have a week off a month from it. I tried this and I just got permanent headaches to the point where I had to give up on it and take the POP. GP might suggest that for you and it might work for you though . FWIW I've now got a copper coil and although I don't have any hormonal problems from it, I do get very painful periods and it's alot heavier than previously leading me to be quite severely anaemic Confused . I've gone through every contraceptive option and this is my last one...

Oh bugger. :(
I tried loads of pill brands when I was younger I got side effects like bad pmt, more painful periods and bad spots. Sounds like my body may well be as picky this time round. Hmm
