Ow!! what's wrong with my booby?

Hi all,

I've been feeling a short sharp pain in my left breast kind of like if you poked a fresh bruise in a delicate area, it's at the side where my breast tissue covers my ribs, a little down from the armpit. At first it seemed to be hormonal, happening around the time of my period but now it's happening at different times of the month too, it also seems to hurt more after I've removed my bra - I'm thinking some muscle/supporting tissue problem, especially as I've got quite big boobs and lets just say after 3 DC destroying feeding from them, they're not as pert as they once were.
Thankfully there's no lumps, bumps or anything else out of the ordinary but I'm still a little concerned.
I'm going for a scan this Wednesday so I guess I'll find out soon enough, don't really know why I posted it but could probably use a little reassurance.

Thanks for reading x

Have you checked/changed your bra to see if that's the prob? - I get that when the underwire starts getting worn /older bras. I found it was the end of the underwire - new bra - sorted :-) hope you're ok x

Had exactly same sensation last week. Put it down to hormones as all ok now. Hope you're ok.

I had four weeks of this, went to GP who referred me to hospital for an ultrasound & exam. There wasn't anything there so they recommended evening primrose capsules as apparently it is most commonly caused by hormonal changes.

In my case though I think I was wearing the wrong bra size - they didn't mention it but there was a S&B thread that made me re measure myself. I hit new, non underworked bras in my new size (smaller back, bigger cups) and 48h later the pain was gone.

Hope you get better soon, it's a horrible feeling.

Thanks for the replies,

madbusy Thanks, I wear all different bra's and when they swell before my period, I make sure I wear a sturdier scaffold like one. I've had that with underwire before, it wasn't comfortably fitting right under my boob and caused a little pain but this is different. Glad you sorted it out though x

alexw Thanks alex, glad it's gone away for you.

UntamedShrew Thank you, Oh I forgot about EPO, I used to take them before to help PMT symptoms and they worked on the boob soreness too. I'll get some and try.
I probably could do with being properly measured however, most of my Bra's fit like a glove so not sure it could be that, especially as I have no problem in the other side. It can't hurt to check though, now to find somewhere here that offers that service.

I'm starting to stress a bit now that it could be hormonal as my cycle length has been a little erratic lately, nothing too drastic until the last being 22 days!
I hope nothing's happening like a decline in my hormones - I'm about to TTC (after the boob is checked) I had fertility hormones checked around 1 year ago and all were fine but I suppose so much can change in that space of time, I'm only 34 with no family history of early menopause.

*Update - I've had the scan done today (should have on weds but they ballsed up the appt) anyway- It's nothing serious, I have a minuscule 2.5mm harmless cyst at the site of pain and also the tissue looks very reactive to hormones, apparently...but big weight off my mind :)
