Hayfever and itchy eyes

Is it too early for hayfever? Ds (4) seems to have it. I'm giving him Clarityn but he's made the skin round his eyes red and dry by itching them. It's not conjunctivitis, but they do look sore. What should I put on them please?

It sould be viral conjunctivitus, this give the redness but no discharge.
Make sure that the clarityn are in date. I thought clarityn had been withdrawn aand replaced, but could be wrong!
Also you could try something like optrex wash or drops.
Clean the with some salted cooled boiled water or chamomile tea.

Thank you Chapsmum. Very helpfulSmile

I didn't know that about Clarityn. Mine seems to still be in date, but I have had it a while. I'll try the bathing suggestions you made. His actual eyes seem ok - not weepy or gunky; its the skin on the eyelids that looks sore and dry.

I won't leave it too long though. Will take him to the docs if it doesn't go soon. Don't want it to get worse.

no prob, hope it clears up.
ment to say that viral conjuctivitis will usually clear up its self and unless the eye is gunky requires no antibiotic drops etc.

Like you say though, when in doubt...

good luck
