Ears. Wax and stuff like that.

One of my ears is fine and the other seems to be blocked totally by wax. I know this because I prodded around in it with a hair grip. Don't tell me this is bad, I know it is.

It hurts when I poke it. Everything seems too 'hard' in it, it's like very hard wax. Isn't ear wax kind of sticky? It didn't used to be hard like this.

I probably do need to go and get it all checked but I don't want it to hurt so I'm putting it off. What is the best thing to do? Is warmed olive oil still the thing and will that be able to get through it all?

Welcome to my gross waxy world! Olive oil is still the done thing. They won't syringe your ears until you have put drops of olive oil in it two to three times a day for at least a week. It's a drag but is sometimes enough to clear the ear but if not will soften it enough to have it syringed. In the meantime, stop prodding!Wink

Thanks Grin

OK, how do you keep the olive oil in the ear? I read that cotton wool is not good becuase it soaks it up. An earplug will surely force the wax in further?

Whenever I get blocked ears I use Otex ear drops. Leave your head on the side for 10 mins and the wax runs out over the next few hours,
